Do two or more primary research techniques (interview, survey, close observation, historical analysis) and analyze an advertisement or consumer product and also to discover what this ad/product says about our culture or why we buy what we buy.

The THESIS of the essay will probably take one of these forms:

/ American culture (or a specific socio/economic group) buys __________ because of a. specific ads and/or b. images in ads and film/television and/or c. the ways we shop, and we learn _________ about this culture from this observation.
Ex: Even though SUVs are dangerous for drivers and the environment, Americans buy them because their ads and their very design draws on our fascination with size and power. [The essay would also contain an in-depth analysis of our fascination with size and power.]

/ American culture (or a specific socio/economic group) buys __________ and we learn _________ about this culture from this observation [more of a focus on the observation than the first example].
Ex: Parents reinforce old stereotypes about women when they buy Barbies for their daughters. These toys teach girls that fashion and spending are the most important female habits, as well as giving them unrealistic expectations concerning body size.

/ A specific ad or a type of ad influences Americans to ____________, and we learn _________about our culture from this observation.
Ex: The ad promoting “clean coal” influences Americans by helping them decide that they don’t know enough about energy production to argue to their legislators for non-polluting energy alternatives, and the ads demonstrate how Americans so easily accept faulty arguments and further demonstrate how Americans’ lack of education and lack of ability or desire to research does not allow them to be informed citizens in popular debates.

My Experience in Divorce Court

Order topic: My Experience in Divorce Court

Type: Essay

Academic level: High School

Formatting style: MLA

Additional information:

Please explain my process in a paper: I went to court with my ex-wife Hannah to the Hall County Courthouse on December 5th, 2013. We met with a FLIC mediator (a little information with citation about the FLIC will be great) We agreed to file ourselves and pay $207 for the divorce rather than paying more and getting attorneys involved which I am thankful. Me and Hannah signed documents about who gets what personal possessions like she will keep the truck, horse trailer and I will keep my boat, 56″ flat screen and pool patio set and dining room table. (Please feel free to include where I might have signed this in the document) She also agreed to keep $3000 of the Discover card while I kept $2000 of it (feel free to also put in where we might have signed this too.) The mediator did say we did a great job figuring this out together and that she gets lots of couples who just fight the entire time which requires further rescheduling. I am thankful for the communication we had developed even though it was after the divorce.

Another thing I noticed with the mediator was everytime I aske a question, she would raise her right hand and say, “I am not an attorney therefore I cannot provide legal advice” and then she would tell us her opinion. We concluded our mediation by going over the final checklist and steps before receiving the final divorce decree from the judge (please feel free to include what form this might be).

Once we finished with the mediation, we went downstairs to pay the fee and the representative at the window gave us a (something ‘misi’ form)and assigned us a judge. We then went back upstairs to schedule our next court date with our judge. It happens to fall on my birthday (february 20th). I told my ex-wife lovely, what a wonderful christmas this is going to be and what a wonderful birthday I am going to have. Maybe this is going to be my birthday present. Once we got our courtdate, we went back to the representative at the window to turn in the courtdate and she then gave us a final copy showing our courtdate.

This is my basic experience. Please try to include some information about different sociological theories/perspectives, for example, labeling theory, phenomenological, postmodernist, power theory, etc. Some of the perspectives include Constructionist and Positivist. The book I am using with the various theories is Deviant Behavior (Eleventh Edition) by Alex D. Thio, Jim D. Taylor and Martin D. Schwartz (hope this helps). Most of the theories and the perspectives are in the first “three” chapters.

The main idea is to share my experience and how it can relate to these perspectives. thank you
